Listen Later

hey gorgeous tale tellers from all around the world welcome to the music room at royal clarence now today we're going to have a look at a few of the variations we're going to do all three variations today and um maybe we might we might get some left-hand tonalization in as well so this is a free lesson from the performing arts free school and from telltaler kids club as well you can go to either of my podcasts and get this this show okay and whichever one you prefer the tail teller kids has lots of stories so that's why there are two different ones one has lots of kids stories and ones just um things to do with performing okay so lots of recitals actually and i do some poetry and things and um you could do some poetry with this actually it would work quite well you could make up your own version of twinkle twinkle little star so we're using the suzuki book and um we're using suzuki book one and this is rather interesting version because this is variation b and it's got all these things going on wait if you hear it it's much easier to follow than if you look at it so easy isn't it so let's do that whole bar

so

and back again to the front so i did the whole thing instead of the whole bar um so that's what it should sound like and when you look at it it's called these strange dots and tails and all it looks really hectic doesn't it well the dots underneath means staccato so act as if the note's hot but don't fly off the note stay close to it um it's a little bit harder to get a really good staccato really interesting staccato on an electric uh piano i've got a yamaha it's not brilliant much nicer on a real piano but we do our best we do our best darlings um the other thing to remember is that you're you're starting on your fifth and you've got to be ready with your second for this g so that you can reach the a okay so there's a lot going on and then so you've got a circa to c and then a hold c and then a staccato and a staccato and then a whole g so it's slow uh sorry quick slow quick quick slow quick quick slow quick quick slow you see but listen i'm going to get livy to play um to help us with the metronome and we'll slow that right down now and i'll just do a couple of bars for you and then um i'll leave it run and you can play yourselves because you know the only way to learn is to yes listen but to try it yourself if if you don't try you're not going to um do very well at all so livvy would you mind

so the thing is to have your own timing and keep it keep true to it but also understand that you're fitting in with with livy on our bass guitar so you know you've got to feel it don't don't think it feel it one and two and three and four

and

okay and that's all there is to it so slowed it down a bit it's not too fast is it i'm going to let that run for a bit and just enjoy it livy's great it's really good to play with um a mute i call it a musical metronome so she's keeping time for us um but she's also keeping tuned for us and we're starting to understand what c major sounds like that's what's really exciting about playing with um an accompanist like in this manner so enjoy my friends sign up to any of the apps download them everything we do is free here at telltalerkids and the performing arts free school all three all absolutely wonderful short lessons little bursts that we can all understand let's make it fun let's make it fabulous i love this

do

do

do

okay guys i think that's probably enough um you could also do you could find those notes on the piano and you could actually play liv libby's part livi's i get her name terribly muddle up it's livy because she plays a liverpool base that's why it's livy right i'm going i'm going to go and do variation c if you'd like to have a listen to that then please do so um it looks harder than it is don't ever be afraid of music just listen just listen and everything will be completely...
