TWiT Throwback (Video)

Matthew Jordan Smith is a celebrity in his own right, and a phenomenal artist with an enviable passion for personal projects. He discovered stars like Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum before they were famous, and he continues to work with entertainment industry giants like Oprah, Halle Berry, and Jamie Foxx. He joins Catherine and guest host Iyaz Akhtar to share his tips for getting noticed, pulling a team together, and not falling star-struck in the presence of such greatness.

Matthew's Tips

1. Get into the habit of treating each picture you take as if it was film and you only have 35 frames to shoot. This will make you treat each frame as something special and not just disposable pixels.
2. Try to shoot at your camera's "native ISO". For Sony and Nikon it's ISO 200 and for Canon it's 160. Shooting at the native ISO will give you better files than shooting at other ISO's. Its similar to shooting films with the lowest ISO's but digital is different.
3. Move in close. The one thing I see in most photographs is that they are taken too far away from their subject. Move in and fill the frame with important information to create strong images. Treat the frame as if you were painting a picture on canvas. Make sure everything in the frame is what you want.
