Twitter announces it’s shutting down Vine, after also announcing a big round of layoffs. The company has struggled due to the perception that it’s a haven for harassers and trolls, along with its failure to get acquired by companies like Disney, Google, and Salesforce when it tried to sell itself and laying off 9 percent of its staff. While some content will still be available for users, Twitter is officially ending Vine.
