It’s been over 50 days since the Nigerian government suspended Twitter operations in the country. But, Nigeria is not the only country where Twitter is running into problems and on this week’s episode we invited Nikhil Pahwa from MediaNama, based in India, to share the experiences that the Indian government has been having with social media.

Though the inciting incidents around social media are somewhat similar between our two countries, our governments have reacted differently. Nigeria chose to ban Twitter while India is choosing to regulate them…for now.

So in this episode we ask: did the Nigerian government even have the option to regulate Twitter?
