When God created Adam and Eve and the Garden the of Eden, He also planted two important trees: the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The trees themselves weren't nearly as important as what they represented. One represented a life in obedience and submission to God that gave fulfillment with the absence of sin and death. The other represented a life without God where man was his own master. We obviously know which tree was chosen, but more importantly to us, this story represents a choice each of us have to make in our own lives.
