As we come to the end of Mark's gospel, we see that Jesus, the suffering servant, accomplishes His mission to give His life as a ransom for many by going to the cross and dying in the place of sinners. In doing so, however, He does not experience defeat, but He experiences glorious victory.

As tension continues to rise towards the crucifixion, Mark now shows stark contrasts of how people relate and respond to Jesus.
