Edward is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Gulf War. After separating from military service in 1992, Edward describes he had a 15 year lazy period. In 2004-2005 he was told he had high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and high cholesterol. By 2007, Edward was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Edward describes the moments that led to him needing to take care of himself.
