Musical performances have the opportunity to convey the right ideas and feelings at the right time.  This was true in 1968 when James Brown performed at the Boston Garden the night after Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed, and it was true in 2002 when U2 played the Superdome during the first Super Bowl after September 11th, 2001.
