With the release of the entire WorldTour cycling season, UCI President David Lappartient has said that "if we have a 2020 season it will be a big challenge for some teams but if we don’t have a 2020 season it will be an even greater challenge and we'd probably lose more teams; that's why it crucial to have the 2020 season and why we're pushing so hard." The new calendar now has the Spring classics being ridden in the Fall with the Giro d'Italia being rescheduled for October 3-25. Many of the Belgian Classics, including Liege-Bastogne-Liege, the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, taking place at the same time, while the 18-stage Vuelta a España will overlap with the final week of the Giro and is scheduled to take place between October 18-November 8.  Although there is still no certainty that even these new dates will happen, right now, there is little choice but to kick the can down the road and attempt to salvage as much of the season as they can...for fear of losing teams and riders due to financial difficulties.
