Matthew 19:16-22
He was closer than most; face to face with Jesus and wanted to learn more about eternal life. The rich young ruler was one decision away from following Christ. So close, yet so far. His story reminds us of a sobering truth: proximity doesn't always lead to transformation. Admiring Jesus isn’t the same as following Him. He almost became a disciple and almost experienced eternal life.
Here are five steps Jesus invited him to take but he chose not to.
1. Accept that God is GOOD (vs 17)
2. Sometimes God asks you to do IMPOSSIBLE things (vs 17)
3. Stop focusing on what you’ve DONE (vs 20)
4. Start focusing on who you want to BECOME (vs 21)
5. Choose JOY, you have eternal life (vs 22)
