What inspires someone with no Ukrainian ancestry to travel thousands of miles into a country at war to help people he has never met? Retired school teacher Michael DiBenedetto joins the Ukrainian Mountaintop Podcast to share the story of his three humanitarian trips to Ukraine, where he helped deliver food and desperately needed supplies to civilians living near the front lines. Michael reflects on the people he met, the realities he witnessed, and the relationships he formed along the way. Although he does not plan to return to Ukraine, his mission continues through Music for a Mission, an October 17 fundraiser supporting the purchase of a bus to help trusted contacts in Ukraine continue delivering vital humanitarian aid.
