What happens when the teachings or traditions of a church conflict with the teachings of the Bible?

Which one has the final say, the ultimate authority?

The answer from the Protestant reformation was the Bible alone.

Hopefully it is your answer as well.

Here is the reason.

Only the word of God can make you wise unto salvation.

As Paul wrote to Timothy, "from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus."

It is not faith plus works as was being taught by the church in Martin Luther's day, or as some would have you believe today.

No, it is through faith in Christ alone.

And that comes from Scripture alone.
