I wanted to edit this episode on Christmas day, the holiday to anyone experiencing trauma recycles all the fears. Of all holidays this is the one which seems to recylcle feeling from family and usually its hard to ignore you know due to all the years of exposure. The long term effects of the complaining of parents or siblings on how you haven't done enough for them, the list is long.
Tonight’s guest is Mary Catherine McDonald PHD her tital is -MCPHD on tik tok. When you hear the title of the book “Unbroken” the trauma response is never wrong.
I have had therapy since I was 9 years old on and off until about a year ago. This book puts years of therapy into a chapter. Every page so welcoming to me. I drank in every word and let out a loud exhale at the end of every chapter.
The title itself gave me pause. I bought the book on audible throu prime. It was easy I paid 14.95 a month for audible on Amazon and I can listen to all the books.
Unbroken the trauma response is real- I couldn’t stop listening soaking in every word and finally coming to a lot of understanding about my trauma and the trouble 👿I have had in the past with others. The codependency always making assumptions about the reactions of others based on my past.
I learned about the tiny little joys (the newest book being written as we record this episode) all the small gifts given to me daily. Focusing on the joys helps me stay in a loving focus instead of suffering all the time and not being able to turn off my brain. Turning my perspective 390 degrees.
If you are living in trauma every day and feeling activated with anxiety most days and nights think about this book. The healing hand up one gets from the pages is just in time. Create the desire for peace in your body so you have peace in your home.
