Please turn in your Bibles to Hebrews 11:1-7

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of

things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

Hebrews 11:1-2 NKJV

Faith (noun): an inkling that gives potential to step forward even in the midst of the uncertainties

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is

like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. James 1:6 KJV

1: Substance of things hoped for: “a standing under.” It’s the idea of a foundation or basis for a claim. Technically: a title deed.

2: Evidence of things not seen: It’s really about faith that is built up proof.

“Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power

and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has

been made, so that people are without excuse.” Romans 1:20
