Whenever a camera is put in front of my face, the first thing that usually comes to mind is my mother's voice saying, "Show me those pearls, Gideon." It was an old-fashioned phrase she often used when I was little, before taking my picture. She used to say it all the time, even when I was already smiling, and I can’t recall a single moment when she wasn’t urging me to grin as wide as I could.

I always wondered why she never used a more common expression like, "Say Cheese" throughout my childhood...

About 41 degrees North and roughly 75 degrees West, there's an old abandoned payphone standing on the outskirts of Dark Falls. I'm pretty sure anyone listening to this is wondering why I drove out to the middle of nowhere just to find this particular payphone. And to tell you the truth, the series of events that led me out here all started with a bizarre Reddit comment. I had to read the diary of someone involved to get to the bottom of it, but something tells me she won't mind.

I've finally done it! I've launched my very first podcast. After moving to the quiet town of Dark Falls, I started hearing about a mysterious house just a few blocks from my own, a place the locals won’t talk about. It might be nothing. But it might be the perfect excuse to start recording.

In this short introduction, I'm going to set some goals, set up my gear (which isn't great), and find out why no one will tell me what happened at that abandoned house.
