Romans 4:1-8,13-17

As the Apostle Paul teaches what it means to be made right with God (justified) by faith alone, he seeks to show how this teaching is nothing new. The Old Testament believers--such as Abraham and David--also believed and taught the same thing. We are not saved by doing what the Law commands; the Law only brings wrath. Instead, we are made right with God by the promise of grace (the Gospel), which makes us heirs of life and children of the heavenly Father. This Father covers us in the mercy of His Son, Jesus Christ, and guarantees that we have a place in His forever family.
