Thousands of miles from home and unable to communicate with his wife and children, Jerry endured months of solitary confinement, suffocating heat, freezing cold, grueling physical and psychological torture, constant hunger, and unimaginable mental duress.
And yet, time and again, the Light that darkness cannot overcome became his beacon of hope. Now, for the first time, Jerry shares the full story of his 2,703 days in captivity and what he learned about faith, hope, and the indomitable power of the human spirit.

The personal account of Colonel Jerry Curtis 7 1/2 years imprisonment in Vietnam.
This is an extremely well-written, personal account of Colonel Jerry Curtis 7 1/2 years imprisonment during the Vietnam war. Being a personal friend of Jerry, made reading his book come to life in my mind. Jerry relays the hardships (which knowing his gentle spirit, at times brought me to tears) endured by himself and others while often finding a bit of ironic humor to ease his pain. This is not a book about the Vietnam War. This is about a young man being torn from his family and held prisoner for years. This is about his abiding faith in God that gave him strength to endure torture knowing that his faith could never be taken from him.
Excellent story of courage and faith.
This is an amazing story of strength and courage. I recommend the book to anyone and everyone that is interested in history and the POW experience as well as those that seek wisdom on perseverance and faith. Great addition of pictures in the book. The writing, especially conversations, is a bit choppy in the beginning but flows better as the story progresses. I couldn't put the book down. I was greatful for the photos in the end.
FaITH
This is bravery at its highest. What Jerry survived shows his true Faith in God and how God helped him live thru it is a real story in courage and faith. What the NVA and VC did to POW's was subhuman. It reminds me of what our POW's of WWII and Korea when through. Jerry has a very strong faith in God and because of it, he was able to with stand all the torture he did. All our POW's showed bravery and Faith. Jerry, Thank you for telling of your time as POW.
Unforgettable read!
Under the Cover of Light perfectly illustrates that God's love is with us always. Col. Curtis endured unspeakable torture yet never lost his faith. Through his strength, he was able to inspire his fellow POW'S. From the moment I picked the book up I was awed and deeply moved by his courage and enduring faith. An unforgettable read.
Must Read A Second Time
WOW - WOW - WOW! just finished reading and what a magnificent piece of writing. I can't remember the last time I read a book that touched me to my core and brought me to tears on more than one occasion. How men could have experienced such personal trauma and maintained their sanity is a strong testament to our God who will never leave us or forsake us. I could actually visualize the men being interrogated by "Rat" and physically abused beyond civility.
