Under The Microscope: A message to women struggling after a miscarriage.

Listen Later

Trigger warning: miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy discussed.

Today we’re going to be doing something a little different. Before I get started, I wanted to put a trigger warning out. I will be talking about miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. I’ve been very open on social media with my friends and family about the loss of baby #3 six months ago. It was a loss that is still hard to this day and I’ve turned to Facebook support groups for help as I navigate through the emotions that I’ve felt. Someone recently posted a study to one group that talked about the heightened risk for depression, anxiety, and PTSD after a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy--something that I have found myself struggling with after my miscarriage.  And it’s still so hard. My due date was this month which has made things even more difficult.  But I will say, I could not have gone through this without my family and friends. They have been there for me on good days and bad days. To every woman out there that has been through this—I hear you. I won’t ever tell you that I know exactly what you’re going through, because I don’t. Everyone’s experience is so incredibly different and complicated.  But, I hear you. I am here for you. If someone you love is going through this, be there for them—even if it means sitting is silence. Don’t say things like “at least your young” and “you can always try again”. This may be one of the hardest challenges they have ever faced. Going back to the women going through this, if you need help, please seek help.
