It’s the F1 summer break, and I take a look at the standings so far, from the Piastri versus Norris duel (00m51s) to the top teams (3m01s) and a highly competitive midfield (3m01s). Pre-season I made a bundle of predictions and I look at how these are getting on, including team mate battles (17m08s), rookie rankings (20m13s) and general season predictions (21m27s). I remain mildly pestilent, so apologies if I sound that way.

The Hungarian Grand Prix was cagey rather than classic but we did see Norris versus Piastri for the win in the concluding laps. Leclerc went from a contender to dropping off the podium entirely, and it was great for some midfield drivers, including Alonso, Bortoleto, and Stroll. But a race to forget for champions Verstappen and Hamilton.

The 2025 Belgian Grand Prix was not a classic, but it did see Gasly drive some excellent defence, Norris’ errors cost him a chance of claiming the win, and Hamilton having a good race to make up for a dodgy qualifying. Weirdly, it also saw all my podium predictions come true. Plus, predictions for Hungary and a look at the last Hungarian Grand Prix, when McLaren somehow managed to make a 1-2 look awkward.

The Belgian Grand Prix is around the corner, and in the preview I take a quick look at the circuit (00m36s) and a look back at how a very close 2024 race turned out (2m06s). Plus, more consideration of the Piastri penalty last time (4m49s) and F1 News (8m41s) which is all about Horner’s sudden departure. And some predictions (7m28s) for the Belgian Grand Prix.

The British Grand Prix was a fantastic but controversial event thanks to Piastri’s ultra-harsh penalty delivering victory to Norris. But nobody can feel bad about Hulkenberg achieving his long-eluded podium at last, going from 19th to 3rd in the drive of the day. While his experience told, the rookies stumbled, with only one of six finishing the race. Plus, race standings and a little news.
