Nadim is the Co-Founder & CEO at CrimeoMeter. Nadim joins the host Anna Redmond to talk about the use of crime data and how it can be interpreted.

• The biggest misconception that people have about crime data is that they tend to think it has an inherent bias or racism which skews it.

• When you are looking at the crime data in your area, you should always take into account a normalized volume to understand if the numbers are high or low. Anything below 50 is below the national average, and above 50 is above the national average.
• Most people think that they can rely on their instincts and experiences and can determine themselves if an area is safe. However, this is actually the opposite way you should be doing this as criminals can use the same logic.
• In many cases, more than 80% of 911 calls are irrelevant to the use of 911 and create an issue of the misuse of the emergency line.
