In this episode, we’ll begin by defining grief. Grief is the deep sorrow we experience after losing someone or something dear to us. But from a Christian perspective, grief is more than just pain—it’s a profound emotional response that points to the depth of love we had for the person we’ve lost.
Grief is a journey we walk through with God by our side. The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:4 that “there is a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.” This reminds us that mourning is a natural part of life, even in our walk with God.
We can take comfort in knowing that God grieves with us. The shortest verse in the Bible, John 11:35, says, "Jesus wept." Even Jesus, fully aware of God's plans, wept at the death of His friend Lazarus. It’s a powerful reminder that grief, while painful, is a natural part of life and not something we should suppress or rush through.
I want to encourage you to lean into your grief and allow yourself to experience the emotions that come with it. The journey may feel heavy at times, but remember that God promises to comfort those who mourn (Matthew 5:4). He is with you in every tear, and in every moment of sorrow, He is drawing near to you.
