The Holy Spirit sends Jesus into the wilderness after His baptism to have an encounter with the devil but why-- Could the God-man succumb to temptation-- Jesus as the mediator of the new covenant must prevail for our salvation. Moreover, we see a pattern how we are to fight temptation.
