Understanding Why Black Kids Suicide

Listen Later

The most disturbing news I learned, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention databases, about 1,810 Black people aged 5 to 17 died by suicide between 2003 and 2017.  Some publications indicate that the numbers started to rise as early as 1993 and has increased in recent years.   There is research and discussions by mental health professionals trying to understand the reason behind the uptick of suicide among black youth.   Please listen to this podcast as I review a journal that explored four main risk factors, and my opinions to all of them.

I compared the risk factors found in a journal to the stories of six children that committed suicide.
