When I think about the modern woman of today. There are issues that men like myself have dating women that have a modern mindset that feel like they need to be provided for and they are entitled to be provided for.   
And that mindset is still to them by mothers, aunts, sisters, and other female peers without any influence from a fatherly or male counterpart to balance out their beliefs and values.
