Our anchor must be set in some thing that doesn't move. What is an anchor and how does it work. First the anchor must be tied off to a vessel. Our vessel is our soul. The anchor is only as strong as the link it's tied to. It's tied to something that is sure and the links are the Word of God. When the winds of diversity begin to blow the link is the Word of God then it will stand strong. We could be floating in the ocean of life and have the devil to sneak up behind you and blow you around, but when the anchor grabs hold of a firm foundation you'll stop and be held fast.the more that you cling to the Word the tighter the rope gets. Thinking about the hope, when the link goes over the side of your vessel your not able to see the link but just a little far and the anchor is hidden. The anchor must hook on something. If it hooks on a sandy, muddy foundation it will never grab ahold of something solid and continue to make the vessel unstable. But if the anchor grabs ahold of a firm, solid foundation then your vessel will be secure and steadfast. We need the wind, tribulations of life to keep the rope tight and keep our knowledge of the anchor. Know the anchors shape is important. Most anchors have three hooks just as a treble hook grabs a fish better. The three hooks is to represents God, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Now the problem is that God calls out and wants the lost to throw out our anchor but a lot will refuse the call. The anchor is to be sure, accepted and truth. The anchor is also to be steadfast. Now the anchor will disappear as it goes down into the depth but this just represents the hope. Hope is something that is not seen and must be believed. So where is the anchor secured that cannot be seen? The rock represents Jesus Christ and where does Christ sit, heaven. We cannot see heaven while alive but our anchor, if we are saved, is anchored in heaven.
