Vincent Harding was co-founder and chairperson of the Veterans of Hope Project at Iliff School of Theology, where he was a professor of Religion and Transformation. He was known in particular for two books, "There Is a River: The Black Struggle for Freedom in America" and "Martin Luther King: The Inconvenient Hero."
