Before we begin today's episode, I would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we are recording. Today, the land of the darek people I pay my respects to elders past present and emerging, I honour their enduring connection to this land and their rich cultural heritage.
Let's get into it
Welcome to Unemployable the Podcast, a conversation which aims to amplify disabled voices in the discussion around the chronic unemployment and underemployment of people with a disability in Australia and creating business as a PWD.
Meet your host, Sarah Sydir, self employed mum of 4 who has lived experience of mental illness and chronic pain, as well as being a carer of a young person with a significant disability. Sarah has experienced the hardship of unemployment and under employment, until she become fully self employed over the last 7 years and is finally able to earn a liveable wage.
The BizABLE Microenterprise Program was born out of the search for employment opportunities for her son Rohan who has Autism, ODD, aDHD and a moderate Intellectual Disability, and where even disability programs rejected him for being too hard work! A business was created to help Rohan achieve his dreams and do something that he loves.
Are you a person with a disability who has a business story to share? We would love to hear your experiences and amplify your achievements! For expressions of Interest:
