3 Signs You're Ready to Leave your 9-5 Job for Full-Time Entrepreneurship

You have a solid financial foundation.

No, you don't need to be rolling in cash, but a strategic financial runway is going to really help you fill in the gap as you work to build you business to where it needs to be in order to replace your 9-5 salary. You also need to have a plan for how you're going to replace whatever benefits you might be losing when you leave your 9-5 job. Benefits like health insurance, retirement contributions, etc.

Another piece to this financial foundation is that you need to separate your business money from your personal money. This means, at minimum, you have to open at least one business bank account.

Your business is generating revenue.

And not only that, but you have evidence that it can grow. You have evidence that what you are providing is something people want or need, and something they're willing to PAY for. And you need to have an idea of how long it's going to take for your business to replace the income you're losing when you leave your job.

You have a strong support system.

Entrepreneurship can feel lonely AF, so make sure you have a strong support system. A supportive partner can be invaluable. You also need to make sure you have a community of likeminded women who are on a similar journey who you can connect with, as well as mentors or guides who can help you along the way.

As this episode is released, I am currently on a solo retreat across a few different parts of Arizona. I'm starting out in the Phoenix area, getting comfortable in what I plan to make my second home over the next couple of years, then spending a few days at an event in Scottsdale, and then traveling to Sedona to spend some time hiking in the red rocks and soaking up all the vortex energy. And in this episode, I share how I created the plan for this entire retreat - which includes a lot of time alone, a lot of time in nature, riding horses, hiking, doing yoga, visiting art museums, and lots of time and space for reflecting. It also includes some time for connecting and relationship building.

I discuss the intentions I set prior to creating the itinerary for this retreat and how I used those intentions to shape my itinerary. And I share the ways you can set your own intentions and then use those intentions in creating your own solo retreat, whether you're traveling somewhere far away or staying close to home.

In today's episode, I'm talking with Kendall Lanning. Kendall embodies what it truly looks like to live a life as a multi-passionate human who embraces her gifts, her light, and even her struggles, to elevate her life's path and to bring light to everyone she serves. She's a certified child life specialist, certified yoga instructor, certified grief facilitator, Reiki practitioner, sound healing practitioner, artist, and author.

And in this conversation, we dig into her journey of first discovering yoga and sound healing, of finding her dream job as a child life specialist at Children's Hospital, and of becoming a published author of children's books. Kendall's books address difficult topics like grief and transition in a way that not only meet children where they are and provide them with the language they need in order to understand and cope with challenging circumstances, but they also provide parents and caregivers with tools and activities to use to further understand and support their children on these sometimes difficult life journeys.

You'll also hear about Kendall's own personal struggle with reading - she didn't even read her first book until she was in her 30s! And how she navigated this particular challenge in a way that ultimately empowered her to step into her purpose as a published author!
