Why does God allow suffering? Why doesn’t God stop evil? If God is good and God is able, why do innocent people suffer—and why does God sometimes say nothing at all?

In Episode 24 of UNFLINCHING, we confront one of the hardest questions in the Bible: Why does God allow suffering if He has the power to stop it?

The Book of Job takes us straight into the problem. Job loses his children, his possessions, his health, and his peace. He wants one answer: Why? His friends believe they know the answer—and God tells them they are wrong. Then God speaks from the whirlwind, but He does not give Job the explanation he wanted.

So what does the King James Bible actually say about suffering, evil, calamity, and God's sovereignty?

And here is where the investigation gets uncomfortable:

What if the Bible does not give us the reason we want?

Scripture does not give us permission to invent an explanation for every tragedy. It does not tell us that every suffering person is being punished for some particular sin. And it does not give Job the answer he demanded.

But it does show us something else.

God did not spare His own Son.

The Christian answer to suffering ultimately leads us not to an easy explanation, but to Jesus Christ, the cross, the resurrection, and the promise of Romans 8.

This is not a comfort-first discussion. It is the hard question taken to the Book itself.

Where was Jesus for three days? His body was in the tomb from Friday evening to Sunday morning — but where was HE? Did Jesus go to hell? Who was Melchizedek? Was he a man — or was he the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, walking this earth long before Bethlehem? Episode 19 of UNFLINCHING settles it out of the King James Bible: three verses in Genesis 14, one line in Psalm 110, and the whole of Hebrews 7 built on top of them.

"Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." — Hebrews 7:25

Do dogs go to heaven? Do pets go to heaven? Will I see my dog again? You buried her, and the answer you got was either a poem about a rainbow bridge or a man telling you it was just an animal with no soul. Neither one is in the Bible.

This episode settles it out of the King James Version. What God actually calls the animals in the book of Job. Where He wrote them into a covenant, into the Ten Commandments, and into the law of Moses. Whether there are animals in the world to come at all — and that one is answered yes, in both testaments, and it is not close.

"The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works." — Psalm 145:9

Ep 17: Who was Cain's wife? Where did Cain get his wife, and did Cain marry his sister? Genesis 4:17 says Cain knew his wife and she bare Enoch, and it never tells you where she came from. We settle it from the King James Bible in six words sitting on the very next page — Genesis 5:4, Adam begat sons and daughters — and Genesis 3:20, where Eve is called the mother of all living. Every objection gets read at full strength: the incest question, the law in Leviticus 18, who Cain was afraid of, the mark, the city, and the pre-Adamic race theory that has been used to teach that some people came from a lesser line. A law has a date on it, and this one has Cain nowhere near it.

Is interracial marriage a sin? Was Moses' wife black? This episode settles both questions out of the King James Bible and nowhere else.

Numbers chapter 12 says it twice in a single verse — Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married. Miriam objected. God came down in the pillar of the cloud, stood in the door of the tabernacle, and struck the prophetess of Israel with leprosy, white as snow. A whole nation sat still in the desert for a week until she was brought back in.

Of every judgment available to Him, that is the one He chose.

Every argument on the other side gets read out loud and taken at full strength. Deuteronomy chapter 7 and the command not to intermarry. Nehemiah tearing men's hair out. Paul telling the church not to be unequally yoked. And the so-called curse of Ham in Genesis chapter 9 that was preached from pulpits in America to justify slavery.

Every one of them is answered from the text that raised it. Because every prohibition God gave about marrying out states its own reason inside the sentence, and the reason is worship, never ancestry. And the curse in Genesis 9 fell on Canaan — one son out of four — and never touched Cush, which is the very line Moses married into.

"For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart." — 1 Samuel 16:7, KJV

Episode 14. Is tithing required? Do Christians have to give 10% of their income? Settled out of the King James Bible and nowhere else.

Numbers chapter 18 tells you who the tithe belonged to — a tribe forbidden to own land, paid in crops and cattle. Malachi chapter 3 is the verse quoted at you every week, and chapter 1 tells you who God was actually shouting at when He said it. Then search every letter written to a Christian church: Paul handles money more than once, organises a relief collection across provinces, and never once tells a Christian to tithe.

What replaces it is harder, not easier. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, not grudgingly and not of necessity. The New Testament does not lower the bar from a tenth — it removes the ceiling.
