Moment 84 | Monogamy. In this episode a recurring guest joins me for a candid conversation about monogamy, non-monogamy, honesty, infidelity, and the way men and women approach romantic relationships. We explore the history of monogamy, whether humans are naturally wired for one partner, the desire for sexual variety, and the difference between attraction, commitment, and betrayal.
From there, the conversation turns toward a bigger question: if people want relationships that don't fit the traditional monogamous structure, why aren't we simply more honest about it?Through a mind, body, and spirit lens, we unpack what secrecy and infidelity can do not only to a relationship, but to the people inside of it & whether more honest conversations about what we actually want could create healthier relationships altogether.
We discuss monogamy possibly being outdated, and if honesty is always possible when the truth could cost you the person you love. Flirting with the idea of what relationships would look like if we stopped following the structure we're “supposed” to want, and started being honest about the one we actually do.
