Selhurst Park in January 1995; the incident you know I'm referring to remains the most infamous moment in Premier League history, when Eric Cantona leapt into the terrace to confront a racist fan.
This episode studies an interview from Martin Edwards in the direct aftermath of the event - it's after the club have taken stock, and, crucially, in the period before the FA exercised their own discipline. Edwards joins Wayne Barton to listen back to an extraordinary statement, and consider the responsibility that comes with being the chairman of one of football's biggest clubs - opening a very different conversation to relate to a modern audience.

The signing of Bryan Robson in October 1981 is one of the most famous in United history - it broke the British transfer record, and also set a standard for style. The club have tried to match it. They can't.
Here is something from that day. Actually, it's from about ten minutes before that legendary picture of Robson signing on the pitch. Bryan Robson's first-ever interview as a United player, alongside Martin Edwards. Edwards joins Wayne Barton to look back at the day, October 3rd, 1981 - almost exactly 45 years ago.

In 1990, Jim Leighton was dropped from the Manchester United team for the FA Cup Final replay. In his place, Les Sealey was called up, and continued his own story on the way to becoming a United cult hero. You'll be familiar with the story being about Alex Ferguson's ruthless decision in pursuit of winning. This is the other side. Of Sealey, joking that he deserves a game because Jim never misses one - of Leighton himself, speaking of how difficult life was at the club - and then of Sealey again, speaking about the friendship that formed between the two.
The episode is released to coincide with Sealey's birthday.

On September 21st, 2003, Manchester United faced Arsenal at Old Trafford. It was the latest in a series of tempestuous matches and the one where tensions finally spilled over.
Some might say the rivalry was born the moment Sammy McIlroy equalised against them in the 1979 FA Cup Final. So he's the perfect person, then, to join Wayne Barton and look back at one of the most infamous games in Premier League history.

In 1991, Manchester United were on the precipice of a new era. The club were turning the corner in terms of success, they had survived the controversy of the failed Michael Knighton takeover, they were being floated on the Stock Market, and the Premier League was on the horizon. In this episode, Martin Edwards joins Wayne Barton to react to his comments made after the 1991 AGM, where he made some rather prescient comments.

Manchester United's 1990-92 away shirt is so iconic that when adidas won the contract to manufacture the club's kit again, they re-created it for sale to the modern audience. However, Alex Ferguson wasn't quite such a big fan of it. Thankfully we're releasing this podcast well after the release so nobody can be too upset about it, but you'll enjoy Ferguson's angry reaction to playing in it after United lost 4-0 at Anfield on September 16, 1990.
Sammy McIlroy joins Wayne Barton to discuss, and also share why he also dislikes another beloved United away strip.

Ah, the foreigner rule. We all know it ruined Manchester United's chances of succeeding in Europe. Right? Did it? What exactly was it? Here we have a brief journey through the complexities of it in the early 1990s. Alex Ferguson, Brian McClair, Steve Bruce and Martin Edwards are all on record in this episode discussing it, from the impact it would have on the team and transfer planning, to the players refusing to use it as an excuse in the moment, to the implementation of the Bosman ruling.

Think of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and your mind inevitably begins with his goal at the Nou Camp in May 1999. He could have retired and been an instant legend; but he was a young man with so much career in front of him. So how do you follow immortality? That was his responsibility, and in August 1999, in his first proper interview of the new season, he revealed the drive and determination that made him the player he was.
