Unity! What a wonderful world it would be if we all could live in unity together. But the sad reality is, even the church desperately struggles with any semblance of unity.
The first thing we must acknowledge is that we are not called to create unity. Unity is something that Jesus Christ brought into our lives through the cross and His bloodshed on Calvary. He has reconciled us back into a relationship with the Father bringing peace and unity with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God has called us to preserve the unity that we have through Jesus Christ. We are to grow in our faith with one another until we all attain that unity of faith.
As the church worships and celebrates the unity we have in Christ, it reveals to the watching world that Jesus is who He says He is. The glory that He has given us manifests itself to a world living in corruption and starving for unity and wholeness!
