Unity in the Church...Is this Possible?

Last week, we talked about Answering God’s Call in our life. His call is two-fold. First, He calls us to salvation. Second, He calls us to do something with this life-saving Gospel. God enables us to serve Him by sharing this Gospel with those around us. He also gives us the ability to live this Gospel out every day of our life.

This week, we will shift gears slightly to talk about unity in the church. With all of the different denominations and the countless church splits that we have, one may think that unity is an impossible goal to aim for. May we understand what Jesus says in Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Our message for today is titled: “Unity in the Church...Is this Possible?”

Our points will be: Unity in the Church is Only Possible if:

  1. Christ is the Head
  2. Our Message is the Same
  3. We Answer Our Calling
  4. We Minister to Others

    Diving Deeper. After listening to today's message, consider asking yourself the following questions:

    • Explain the importance of Christ being the Head of the local church.
    • Jesus is never changing. If we preach differing messages, what does that say?
    • Why can’t there be unity in the church if we teach differing messages?
    • Can we answer someone else’s calling? Explain.
    • Why should the church minister to others?
