University Fees, Staff Cuts and Casualisation

The Morrison government has announced a plan to remove HECS access for uni students who fail multiple subjects. Lincoln Aspinall from the National Union of Students explains how these changes could leave students with a massive bill, or no other choice than to drop out of their courses. 

Recently, some Australian universities were found out to be involved in wage theft, with some underpayments stretching back a whole decade. Alison Barnes, president of the National Tertiary Education Union discusses how universities facing big financial losses from COVID-19 has led to massive staff cuts and an increasingly casualised workforce.
