Unjust Love

Unjust Love by Ayodeji Ajagbe

Unjust Love was born out of a moment of emotional conflict and brutal self-reflection. It explores the darker side of artistic expression—how words, though beautiful, can sometimes be used to mask indifference, manipulate emotions, or feign affection.

The poem serves as a confession from a writer who admits to using their craft not as a mirror of true love, but as a veil for dishonesty. It’s a raw, unfiltered glimpse into the mind of someone who questions the morality of their own art and the consequences it might have had on those who believed in its sincerity.

The poem was featured in Anusha Garg’s ‘Because We Love The Sun’ poetry anthology that was published in India, 2023.
