On the morning of January 23, 1997, Clara Whitmore, a newly married woman living just outside the small English town of Bakewell, was found dead at the bottom of the staircase leading to the second floor of the house she shared with her husband.

In Part One, Billy walks Carley through a reconstructed version of Clara’s accident. No conclusions. No clear suspect. Just fragments of truth, shifting perspectives, and details that may—or may not—matter.
