In this episode, we look at how intellectual property, or IP, plays a key role in growing innovation and supporting small businesses in South Africa. We reflect on a recent IP commercialisation workshop held in Gqeberha, hosted by the National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO) in partnership with both local and international organisations. 

The focus? Helping local entrepreneur, especially those in underrepresented communities, understand how to protect and benefit from their ideas. From trademarks to patents and pitch decks, the workshop offered practical tools and advice for navigating the world of IP.  We also hear from Jetane Charsley, Head of NIPMO, on why securing IP rights can help local businesses compete both here at home and globally.
