So often we find ourselves having to code switch or compartmentalize our lives for various reasons. For me, because I navigate so many spaces daily (entrepreneur, executive coach, sister, mentor, Black woman in Idaho, woman in Corporate America, etc.), I have become really effective at code switching. But, it is exhausting having to do so. I recently read the novel Trust (written by Hernan Diaz) and one of the characters in the book states that "in order to maintain your privacy, you must have a public façade" and that really resonated with me. That statement prompted questions such as, "Am I showing up authentically?" and "Do I know who I am and am I showing up that way consistently? What impact does that have on my well-being?" So there was no one better to discuss the toll and the benefit of playing various roles than someone who does it for a living. In this episode, my guest, Actress Iantha Richardson, and I discuss her experience as an actress in the industry (including roles on Will Trent, American Soul, and Good Trouble), how she found her purpose, the mission that acting and dance allow her to fulfill, how she honored her mother and found joy by fulfilling a commitment, and how art emulates life. I invite you to join our conversation as we discuss:
- Privacy versus Public Façade
- Art saves lives
- Being a diligent caretaker of self
- Will Trent
- Directorial debut with film J'Ouvert
- Trinidad & Tobago Carnival

- Isolation and the importance of being connected
