Telescopes alone can’t yet reveal all the details of these cosmic monsters, so an international team turned to a neural network. As WIRED reports, they “trained a neural network with millions of black hole simulations” to “interpret fuzzy data captured from these enigmatic space objects in real life.” The AI learns to map blurry telescope images onto detailed models, giving researchers a sharper view of the event horizon and surrounding gas disks. This breakthrough not only helps us test Einstein’s theories under extreme gravity, but also paves the way for more accurate black hole imaging.
