When Thom's daughter Kate was six months old, she had to have surgery to reconstruct her skull. This was the scariest thing Thom and his family ever went through. She came through fine, and today is almost 16 years old and an amazing young woman. She has no memory of her surgery and the ordeal they faced around it, but Thom and his wife will never forget. After that, he realized that he had to be more grateful.
