Fertility Unfiltered

Unpacking female infertility

Listen Later

For far too long, women’s reproductive health has been filled with taboos and stigmas, making it harder to take care of our own bodies. That’s why we’ve started the podcast series ‘Fertility Unfiltered’, in partnership with Genea– to help people learn more about reproductive health topics from health experts. We’re creating a safe space for conversations around fertility, ranging from the possibility of parenthood, seeking guidance on reproductive health and even the science behind conception.

In our second episode, we speak to reproductive health specialist Dr Cheryl Phua who works with many women and couples struggling to get pregnant. According to a recent Australian study, one in three IVF cycles undertaken by couples trying to conceive are due to male infertility or a combination of male and female infertility, and Dr Phua explains there are some biological realities we’re all working with. In this episode, Tarla Lambert sits down with Dr Phua to discuss topics such as the causes of female infertility, building a good support network, advancements in reproductive technology, and she dispels some lingering wives' tales and myths surrounding fertility.
