I grew up in suburbia. Next level suburbia – Sherwood Park (serious) – where jamming to KISS albums, BMX bikes and Slurpeez was the daily program. This was all possible because in the spring of 1933, my grandfather (Walter, but Our 💚 Gido) managed to leave Ukraine (Kyiv) with only the clothes on his back. He was starving and alone. This was the time of the Holodomor. A time of tyrannical leaders and immense suffering for those who starved under the boot of tyranny.
