I just learned this evening that yet another one of the sports legends from my early childhood, Henry (Hank) Aaron, died today at the age of 86. While I was never a huge fan of watching professional baseball - basketball was and is my first live, followed by football and tennis - I did have respect for the baseball players that made their mark. My interest in Aaron picked up as he neared and then eclipsed Babe Ruth’s longstanding record of 714 home runs. I tuned in to watch that game and his last game as an Atlanta Brave, on his way to retiring with 755 homers.
But what stands out most for me as I reflect on the life and legacy of the man Henry Aaron, what stands out most for me is that he imo represents the complete package. Thr same principles have been effectively utilized by some of the world’s wealthiest men such as Warren Buffet, the value investing king, to build their fortunes. Or like Jeff Bezos, who diligently developed and leveraged a new way of doing business that has revolutionized the way the world shops. The list goes on and on!

Kentucky AG Daniel Cameron announced a charge of wanton endangerment against just one of the officers in the Breonna Taylor case. This outcome is a far cry from holding the 3 officers accountable for shooting into Breonna’s apartment and murdering her in her sleep. But there is a Higher Court whose Judge is God, and He’ll get ultimate justice for Breonna Taylor. #justiceforBreonna

TW: Theme of Racism and Racial Trauma | This episode comes from a place of heaviness and grief over the racist brutality against and killing of Black people. It is a prayer that comes from a broken heart, a place of mourning over the senseless and seemingly endless violence and genocide(!) committed through systemic racism. I did not plan to do this episode; but after deep prayer, meditation and contemplation, this podcast episode was birthed. See, Black people, we are in a struggle for our lives right now. We have been for a very long time, since the first of our enslaved African ancestors were kidnapped, stripped of their humanity, raped, tortured and brought to America, the land of (white) freedom, against their will. And we find that we must take up this fight for our survival anew in this present generation as the system designed to oppress us and profit from our silent compliance ramps up its efforts to terrorize and control us. So this is more than a prayer. It is a Declaration of our survival; an affirmation of our worth and worthiness in the eyes of God; and a celebration of the coming and final triumph of Love over hate.
