On December 23, Pastor Laura preaches on Micah 5:1-5.
Remember when, as a child, you thought Christmas would never get here? It may have felt that way for you this year as well—even if you’re a grown-up. As the season of Advent comes to a close, and as we rush to finish up our last-minute tasks, we’re reminded by the prophet Micah that Christmas isn’t here yet. We’re still waiting!
Micah’s Hebrews had been waiting for a long, long time for the advent of the promised Messiah. And Micah proclaims some good news: It won’t be long now. Micah even names the place—the most unlikely of places—where the advent of the Messiah will occur: a nondescript little spot in the road, one of those one-horse towns with a single, blinking, yellow light—named “Beth – le – hem.”
The only thing God’s people need to do is turn back toward God…..
