A few years ago we had a festival in beautiful Myrtle Beach. I remember it as if it were yesterday… the boardwalk and the sand, the smell of the ocean… And, I remember the people – people who were radically changed the moment they said “yes” to Jesus Christ. Picture that first moment of one moving from death to life! The light in their eyes and excitement radiating from their very beings.

One woman in particular stands out in my memory. She’d resisted the Good News message but had lingered to talk. She became frustrated by trying to describe her desperation. She said things like “I’ve gone too far” and “I don’t deserve grace.” At one point I said, “You feel unworthy?” At that she exclaimed “Yes! That’s the word. I’m unworthy.” That’s exactly it. Now we had something to talk about. She was right. And that’s the very point. We are all unworthy. That’s the beauty of God’s grace. It’s for unworthy people. Hebrews 9:14 describes the work of that grace when it says that by the blood of Jesus, God will “cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God.”

If you know someone who feels unworthy, share this verse with them. It’s life itself. There are people everywhere who are discouraged and feeling unworthy to be loved. But, they are loved! They are loved by God and He wants to have a personal relationship with them. So today, let’s tell them this good news. It’s the best gift we can ever give. This is Andrew Palau.
