Jesus modeled that friendship is core to being human. because it's core to who God is!
Our busyness habit self-sabotages the life we want due to our warped view that friendship is a luxury and not an essential.
Busyness habit - Badge: Our value is tied to our output. Bypass: We numb and hide
She clarifies by saying, "One of the most universal numbing strategies is what I call crazy-busy."
In Daring Greatly, Brene Brown writes about numbing behaviors that we use as armor against vulnerability. And lest you think numbing doesn't apply to you, because you're not hooked on cocaine/alcohol
As a culture, we shame people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol, but somehow we've normalized -we even praise--busyness addiction.
...many of us wear busyness as a badge or honor. I'm busy, therefore I'm important and valuable, therefore I'm worthy. And if I am not busy, forget it. I don't matter.
Most people tie their self-worth to what they accomplish. And when it comes to your personal relationships, being busy can take a huge toll.
Do you know what most of us are addicted to? Being busy. Busy is habit-forming. People pride themselves on being busy, but busyness is an addiction that needs to be cured.
Science reveals there's a popular and applauded habit many are addicted to, that makes a better life impossible.
The clearest message that we get from this 83-year study is this: "Good relationships keep us happier and healthier. Period"
Researchers have found that quantity counts, too. Looking back on their lives, people most often reported their time spent with others as most meaningful, and which they were the proudest.
"Our study has shown that the people who fared the best were the people who leaned into relationships, with family, with friends, with community."
Science has discovered the #1 predictor to a better life and being better at life.
Better comes from different habits, not doing more of the same.
Destinations aren't a result of desire but daily habits.
Everyone wants a better life, and to be better at life.

One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24
