Uptrust, a San Francisco- and Northampton, MA-based technology company fighting mass incarceration, completed a $1.3m funding round.
Uptrust is a public benefit corporation supported by the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation, RFK Human Rights, Schmidt Futures, Inherent Foundation and the Heising-Simons Foundation.
The organization intends to use the funds — comprised of a combination of grants and investment — to broaden both its engineering and sales capabilities, and improve its product, including the launch of the new Uptrust mobile app for public defender clients.
Co-founded by Jacob Sills, CEO, and Elijah Gwynn, Uptrust provides a tech platform which ensures people attend mandatory appointments in the criminal justice system by reminding them of their obligations and connecting them to relevant social services.
With the new app, clients will be able to message multiple stakeholders (such as their attorney and social worker) and learn about local opportunities such as free or reduced transportation to court and expungement clinics. | To read full story, visit https://startuparound.com/read/1583271007.9178576/Uptrust-Raises-Over-$1.3M-In-Funding?ref=audio_experience
