While New Year’s Resolutions are all about discipline, effort, and willpower as we try to make changes in various areas of our lives, most of us know that, while trying harder might produce temporary change, true, lasting change can only come as we come to the realization that we are powerless to change ourselves. The gospel calls us to resignation, not resolution.
