In this episode, we’ll explore urbanisation, the process of an increasing proportion of people living in urban areas. We’ll discuss how, since 2007, the global urban population has surpassed the rural population. We’ll compare urbanisation patterns across different income levels, highlighting examples from high-income countries like the UK, where counter-urbanisation is occurring, to low-income countries like Ethiopia, which are expected to urbanise rapidly. We’ll also examine newly emerging economies like China, where urbanisation is happening at a fast pace.
