EXPANDING TERRITORY, and my title for today is URGENCY FOR INTIMACY
Can I tell you, expanding territory demands an urgency for intimacy. Expanding one's territory is not merely about acquiring more or achieving greater success; its about getting so close to Jesus, we walk impowered by the Holy Spirit, and we say YES to whatever Jesus calls us to do! In order for us as a church to Expand Territory,
TRUTH: JESUS DESIRES TO EXPAND HIS TERRITORY IN YOUR SOUL
To expand our territory spiritually means to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 PETER 3:17-18 AMP Therefore, [let me warn you] beloved, knowing these things beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of [a]unprincipled men [who distort doctrine] and fall from your own steadfastness [of mind, knowledge, truth, and faith], 18 but grow [spiritually mature] in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory (honor, majesty, splendor), both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
It is the pursuit of a deeper relationship with God, where our faith is not just a Sunday ritual but a daily pursuit. It’s saying Jesus expand your territory in me, make me resilient, teach me to endure, guide me to love like you, give me boldness to call out evil, I desire you and only you, I WILL FORSAKE EVERYTHING FOR YOU KING JESUS!!
THE ROLE OF INTIMACY
At the heart of this expansion lies intimacy. In 1 Chronicles 4:10, we read the prayer of Jabez
1 CHRONICLES 4:10 ESV Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm[a] so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked.
Jabez's plea for blessing and expansion is deeply intertwined with a desire for God's presence—a longing for intimacy.
Jesus teaches us in JOHN 15:4-5 ESV Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Here, Jesus highlights the necessity of an intimate relationship with Him as the foundation for any true growth and expansion.
